Odisha police outposts get teeth, SIs made in-charge

Odisha government

has chosen to select sub-investigators (SIs) to head such units. Prior, officials in the position of

aide sub-investigator

(ASI) were going the police stations.

No less than 216 police stations have been working heavily influenced by police headquarters across the state. Boss clergyman

Naveen Patnaik

on Tuesday authorized the arrangement of SIs to head the stations.

"The 216 police stations going under the commissionerate police region, region police and government rail route police will presently be monitored by SIs. Their preparation and experience will assist with controlling wrongdoing and the rule of law circumstances at the station level," said a composed message from the main priest's office.

The state police base camp had as of late sent a proposition to the state government to name SIs to lead the police stations. "We are profoundly thankful to @Naveen_Odisha for formation of 216 presents of SIs on head police stations. Our station working will improve. We will actually want to serve individuals better," read a post from the DGP's true Twitter handle.

It should be noticed the public authority had been selecting ASIs to head the stations as police headquarters used to be going by SIs. Since the police headquarters are currently being initiated by assessor positioned officials, the public authority needed to update the position of the useful top of the stations from ASI to SI.

"We enjoy a benefit now with the arrangement of SIs as top of the stations. ASIs of police headquarters and stations are approved to explore frivolous wrongdoings like robbery and grabbing. A SI is engaged to explore genuine and significant cases, including assault and murder," extra

chief general of police

(Wrongdoing Branch)

Sanjeeb Panda

said.

According to the current practice, stations can get grumblings and send them to the concerned police headquarters for enlistment of formal case or FIR. After enrollment of the case, the examiner in-control (IIC) of the concerned police headquarters will allocate an official of the station to explore the case.

"While heading a little unit (station), the SIs will get an openness and experience to head police headquarters in future when they are elevated to the position of examiner," Panda said.
